I have 2001 200 OX66.

I use the boat pretty much every weekend.

However the intial start usually takes about 5 seconds. Sometimes I have to put it just barely in high idle.

Once it starts its good for the rest of the day ie it stats right up no problem.

What is the culprit of this hard starting when cold???

I have a new VST filter and the O2 was cleaned.

Would this be a symptom of a bad LP pump???

What about spark plug gap???

Thanks!!!!

Also should I be pushing the key in at start??

There is no choke system on an EFI motor like yours, so pushing in the keyswitch does nothing to help starting.

Check compression to see the motor's internal health

Inspect sparkplugs, wires, boots, etc.

Watch the voltage at the starter terminals while cranking, it should be about 10V or better

Check temp sensor for correct readings

Monitor the fuel rail pressure while starting the motor

Refer to the service manual for specifications
