Hi,

I have a 2000 90hp Evinrude Ficht Ram injection motor. I have this problem 10 out of 12 times. The problem I have is starting it for the first time the day I want to use it. When I try and start it if it will not start right up the only way I can get it to start is to lift the warm up lever i/e open throttle plates all the way, it will then start after 2-25 trys and run poor/rough till I go for a quick run at high rpm. After that the motor runs great for the rest of the day and I can shut it off for 5 min or half the day and it will restart with no problems. This motor sunk in fresh water before I owned it and the power distribution panel was replaced the next summer after it sunk.

Compression is good, fuel and oil pumps are good and fuel pressure is good.
No better or worse if water or air temp is 50 or 90, if it's 8am or 8pm or if I used it the day before or 2 weeks ago.
Have had it hooked to the computer diag software and all systems are working the way they should.
Have also checked it hooked to diag software side by side with another same motor that has no problem and can't find anything wrong with mine. All the readings while cranking mine are the same as the other motor that starts with no problem. I was also told to check the cyl for fuel before starting to see if the injectors are leaking. They are not.

Any help you can give would be great. Thank you!

Any idea? Maybe the EMM is junk from it's swim? I just hate to buy parts hoping I get lucky and the EMM is big $$.

If it went for a swiim, my question is have you replaced the injectors? (water in DI injectors in not good, fresh or salt) With EVDiags you can change the flow rate of the injectors to see if they are in fact working correctly. You can drop them to see if they are all "hitting"

Starting with the throttle advanced usually indicates a TPS problem. What does the TPS read before starting. With the engine not running, move the TPS and see if it goes up and down smoothly (about .8 V to 4.5 V)

What are the system volts at key on and starting?

What is your fuel pressure?

What is the compression? I know you said "good", that is subjective.

Have you ever gotten three lights on your guages?

Here is another thought....have you checked your plug gaps? I think your model may be the old style of multi firing at the plugs and that eats them up.
