Hard starting - won't go under load

2004, 25hp Mercury. Hard to start -- and intermittently, won't run under load. How do I fix this? I suspect a fuel problem, but don't know how to fix it. Help, please!

more than likely carb. all gummed up buy a rebuild kit and make sure to remove high speed jet and clean. its not hard if you have a manual

i second the carb or fuel pump
is bulb staying hard?
