Hard steering going left

Good evening, new member and just ran my new to me 2002 Tige 21V on the lake yesterday.
The boat ran great except the steering was very stiff going to the left, easy one hand going to the right but really hard (two hands) going left. It gets worse the faster you go.
The previous owner said the steering cable was replaced 2 years ago.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Most outboard motors and sterndrives have a zinc or aluminum fin above and behind the prop. These can be turned to help balance the steering.

See if you have one. The zinc variety of these fins (AKA torque tabs), also act as an anode to help stop galvanic corrosion of the gearcase.

Power steering on sterndrives often means the anode is flat, rather than a fin shaped, as it negates, or is supposed to negate the torque of the steering wheel.

Hi Chris, thank you for the reply. My boat is a V drive so I don't think it has one?

so Vee drive and rudder? A zinc anode on the rudder with the right shape will perform as a torque tab.
