I have 1996 johnson 150hp. It cold starts great. I will run on plane for 30 min or longer and shut it off when I get to a fishing spot. when I go to leave it is hard to restart. It will start then sputter out a few times and then it goes. I just rebuilt the carbs and it still didnt help. Any Ideas?

when you squeeze your fuel ball, does it stay hard? i know that doesnt sound too good, but you know what I mean. Sounds like your fuel is running out of the carb bowls, check the fuel pump and see if you can disconnect the fuel line after the pump, if you can pump fuel using the bulb through the pump, you have a pump diaphram that needs replacement.

when i pump the bulb to start the day it gets hard. when I have been stopped for a while and go to restart it is not hard and not much fuel in it. so you are saying that if i take the fuel line off the fuel pump and squeeze the bulb that fuel should not flow through the pump?

Almost all fuel pumps have a diaphram in them, your fuel bulb will lose some pressure during operation, but should not go too limp, is your tank vented?

yes the tank in vented. Its almost like there is an air leak in the fuel system somewhere. The bulb is new and the bulb is limp after use.
