I have a 1987 Sea Ray with Chevy 350's. I just replaced an engine about 3 years ago. Running fine except: First start of the day it starts right up. After it gets warm, I have to open the throttle all the way to get it to start then it runs fine. What can cause that? Thanks in advance for the help.

Howdy, A stuck or partially stuck closed automatic choke......or other carb problems.

Swapped the carbs around and the problem stayed with the engine. Still starts right up when cold, but after I reach operating temp after a run, I have to fully open the throttle to start the engine, then it runs fine. Any more suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Re: Hard to start when hot

If your engine compartment temps are high and you operate in very hot weather, you may be experiencing a vapor lock issue.

Have a look at the following.
