Hi Guys
I have an issue with my Hardin Marine oil gauge, I've just purchased the boat and was unsure if this is normal with these gauges, it has a new Hardin Marine oil sender switch that I just fitted as well.
You start the engine and get normal oil pressure but when you switch the engine off it will go down to 20 psi and stay ther, as soon as you turn the ignition on it will go to zero, start the engine again and then switch it off it will go to 20 psi until your turn the ignition on but don't start it, only then it will go to zero . As you can see its not consistant and always gives a different reading when I switch the engine off.
Could I have a faulty gauge or is this something these gauges do, it doesn’t have an oil line going to the gauge it works off an oil sender switch, works on resistance. I've even gone to the point of disconnecting the battery and it wont go to zero until I switch the ignition on.
Your assistance will be greatly appreciated
