While my current block is bieng re-worked(1993 115)....I have a real itch to be on the water and fishing. I'm landlocked!

I have a good powerhead, 1984 115 flatback, that was already dissassembled, cleaned and rebuilt sitting idle(bored, new pistons and rings) ready to go. I have verified its adapter will mate up properly etc. I understand about prop vs crank HP, but this will be a temporary setup till I get my original back, and put together.

Question is electronics....I have all the 84's original harness and all electronics, complete....Will all this be compatible with the Harness on the boat side??? (BIG RED) If not, would it be much work to get things working?

If this is do-able..It will be good to have a spare ready.

Thank you

Not quite following the question you are asking. Don't the 2 engines use different control cable plugs? Explain what you mean by "all electronics". If you have both control harnesses I suppose you could switch them out and wire it into the control box ignition switch and safeties.

Thanks....Talking about the blocks harness with its integrated branches and attached component plugs.

The boat has the std large red plug to my remote, and both my original powerhead, the the 1984 powerhead have similar looking block-side harnesses.

Will the 1984 block-side harness plug into what resides in the boat (Big Red plug was attached to my 1993 motor). From initial examination, it looks like it will.

Again, temporary until my original motor is reworked and ready. I have to go fishing, how I maintain any sort of sanity!

If both are using the "big red plug" then it should all work. The pin outs should be standard for the red plug.

thanks again, sort of thought that. needed the "warm fuzzy" feeling of comfirmation. I knew there was a change and color change at some point...But looks the same, and yes all sides are big red.

The Johnson/Evinrudes all used the same red plug up through the 1995 model year. It's different starting in 1996.
