I haven't ever used one, but I did call them to get more info. It looks like a great product, they gave me a rough price of around 1600.00 including shipping. Product seems good, but not sure if the price would justify the outcome. If the price was lower I would def look into it more.

I'd install a 3rd log before the Waterglide. That said, I have heard good reviews on another site for them..

Anyone know the appx. price on a 3rd pontoon, say for a 21' boat?

Re: Has any installed a Pontoon Waterglide

OK - So, according to the iBoats "Boat Motors" link at the top of the page, bumping from a 90hp to a 115hp would add about $2k to the price of a boat; going to a 15php is $5k more, and to 200hp is $$9k more. Ouch.

Hypothetically, if you were buying or building a 21' pontoon boat, (that was rated for 200hp, but came stock with a 90hp)and wanted to pull a slalom skier with a total of 4 people still on the boat, would a 3rd log bump your 90hp performance to that of a 115? A 150? What is the downside of a 3rd log or the Waterglide? For $1500 plus installation, it sounds like a better deal than the larger engine. Anyone got more solid info?

Re: Has any installed a Pontoon Waterglide

Without a Waterglide, I'm getting about 22mph GPS from 90 hp on 24 feet at 9000' altitude. A disappointment only because the old fishfinder wheel used to report much more speed. The deck stays flat and acceleration is quick so I've never really looked for more. Still, when you see a picture of your pontoon at speed and imagine that all that splashing is going on underneath among the joists while knowing that big motor mount is dragging through the water, you've got to wonder how much is pure waste.

In the few cases I've read, enthusiastic posters were going to add a third pontoon to the boat and report back but we never heard the news. I'm not sure if it was disappointment or euphoria that prevented the followup but I've got my suspicions. Perhaps a success story has been posted lately while I failed to look?

The exciting prospect of the Waterglide is the addition of speed AND efficiency -- in contrast to bigger motors with bigger appetites. But I'm just wondering if I care about (improving) either enough to bother at the price.

Funny that no manufacturer has licensed the technology for new construction, you'd expect such a significant advantage would be valuable in the marketplace.

Hmmm...

This is an excellent point. I think a couple of manufacturers have licensed to add TAP Fins to their logs, though. That's something to think about.

Re: Has any installed a Pontoon Waterglide

Just installed a WATER GLIDE on a 16' Odyssey - 50 HP Merc.

24" Pontoons

Without glide-------GPS 19.5 (1 person and 217# of normal gear)
9 pitch prop---------5600 RPM's

WITH WATER GLIDE-----GPS 25.4 (1 person and 217# of normal gear)
23.7 GPS----- 9 pitch prop-------5800 RPM's
25.4-----11 Pitch prop------------6000 RPM's
Need to go to a 12 pitch prop to lower RPM's - will probably see another mile or two!

Rides higher in the water. Stopped water spray around boat. Handles smooth on the water. Turns shorter. Unbelievable improvement!
