Has anybody done this?

I have a bowrider and the battery and gas tank are under the rear deck. This makes it kind of a pain to service either. I was thinking about making a slide out tray sort of like a drawer to mount the battery and circuit breaker box to. It would slide out for service and slide back under and lock in place out of the way when the boat is in use. Has anybody done this? What do you think and how would it be done? Would drawer slides from the local hardware store with some modification be OK? Is there a marine version already on the market that is reasonably priced?

I would go with the thought that batteries/battery boxes should be hard mounted to hull as they will not flop around and possibly short out or loosen leads.
can you build a access point in the deck?

Yeti makes a slide system for coolers so you can slide them out from under your seat/leaning post on a CC. There may be others.
You want stainless, not hardware store stuff. And b/c it involves boats it is not cheap.
RBH is right; batteries need to be fixed. But why do you need to "service" a battery, and how often? If you are disconnecting, then get a Perko switch instead. As for gas tanks, too, what service? slide them in when they are full and out when they are empty!
