Added a double deck to the top of their pontoon? It seems fairly easy to do as long as you had some aluminum bracing and someone to weld it. Thinking about adding a 8x8 deck to the top of my 20' pontoon.

Yup.

Several manufacturers offer this as an option.

Not talking about from the factory, talking about homemade. We rented a double decker yesterday, which is where I got my idea to make one after looking at how simple they are to make. Not sure If there would be a problem with the weight/balance if I added one to my boat.

I know a couple of guys on here have done it. My main concerns would be the same as yours; weight and balance. I've never seen a double decker shorter than 25 feet, and my suspicion is that is due to the aforementioned concerns. I don't think you'd be happy with a twenty foot double decker. Just my opinion.

I checked, and while Avalon/Tahoe offer it on a few models down to 24', they ONLY offer it on tritoon models.

Could be a lot of weight high up. I'd be careful.

What they said, that is gonna be alot of weight high on a smaller boat so it will float lower in the water and even on a big boat it makes them tippy with all that weight high.

We used to offer tham at work but it was turned out we didn't build enough of them and they were super expensive so we discontinued it.

Look up parts for it, I thiknk once you price that much aluminum you may change your mind just on that point.

Ahhhh....brings back memories of "Large Marge the Party Barge". 24ft Steel with an upper platform built from 2x4's. Four guys up top, everybody over to one side, boat about to tip over, three guys jump off, fourth gets the ride of his life being catapulted skyward & into the water! Good times......back in the day.
