has anyone ever replaced the Hammer blow coupling on OMC sterndrive

Well, I bought the boat Monday night, and broke it Tues night. Good start. Anyways, I went to put the sterndrive up and the motor just spun free. It doesnt turn the worm gear. Looking at my service manual it doesnt look too bad to replace(except for that V6 that is kinda in the way) but I was wondering if any of you have done this before and have any tips. Thanks!

Ive replaced the coupling connected from the tilt motor to the worm gear. Is that what your talking about?

Yeh, I thought it was the coupling, turned out it was the shaft. Anyways, I got it changed. No problems. I'm kinda glad I did, there was more water then oil in there, so I cleaned it out, filled it with oil and sealed it up better this time. It wasnt too bad.
