hey guys have a new question for ya.

i have seen this in the magazine , and have met the guy who created the t.a.p system for pontoons .

just encase you haven't seen it ,it is fin welded to your pontoon the whole length outside , the full setup includes a fin inside as well. inside is optional

i am for the most part but sold on the idea , was wondering if anyone here has had it done and do they like it , was it worth the investment ?

also while i am asking, what is the easiest way to improve the weight capacity of your boat? adding a third toon , or removing the foam from the toons on the boat ( i believe the foam is wet and adding weight to boat based upon removing the plugs from the toons and there is water build up )

I suggest you do more research on TAP fines to find out the truth about them.

thankyou for the heads up on the tap system.

must admit was very surprised at what i have read thus far, and a a bit confused as well.

i would have thought the concept was very sound , based on my experience on the water . to explain i have been a boat with the opposite effect taking place, when 2 different scenarios cause a diving effect . once while fishing with friends we were checking bushlines we had set . when checking one the guy running the boat shut it down to fast and and with weight on the front the boat thought it was a sub and started a dive . this had my undivided attention being that i was the weight in the front .

the other time was with me running the boat ( my boat). first off i was overloaded with people, second thing it was at night and i could not see and wasnt thinking and drove straight into a wake from a boat that had just passed us going the other way. lol this had every-bodies undivided attention . hmmmm the only good thing from that is i no longer get overloaded from to many folks wanting to go out. i recon thats from the boat diving so badly the motor came out of the water . i was only going about 10 miles and our if that much

i want have any warranty issues the boat is a 86 yr i think . if i follow thru with this it will be me trying to improve on the idea ,

what other options for more lift are available for a 24 foot toon

If your toons contain foam I would assume they are the U shaped ones with flat top. My understanding is that that type of tune is required by some authority or other to have the foam. If the foam is watersoaked it does have to go, or be dried out and the source of the water repaired. What I am unclear on is if you would have to replace the foam, or if it was only required by the original manufacturer to place it there. Either removing, or drying the foam as I understand it is a major pain. Good luck with whatever you need to do.

As an aside, welding the tap fins on with foam in the toons will be a fun time also.

I really don't see that much gain based on what they cost you????? but that being said, I use my pontoon for Chillin and putting along. Thats just me. lol

Sure seems like a gimmick to me....lots of effort for little reward and then what is a buyer of your boat gonna think when you sell it?

Not to mention, it would seem to me that it would be really important that they are mounted in the right spot.

These things remind me of a teenagers that put wings on Honda Civics. They might look cool and even functional, but at the end of the day, all you did was nothing.
