I am gonig to be trailering my personal boat and trailer into Canada in about a week and was wondering if there is any special documentation I needed. I have a current reg. number, current PA tag, title to both the trailer and boat, and a current reg for the trailer. Is there anything else I need, I dont want to find out the hard way at the border. I also have a current boaters safety course cert. Thanks for your help.

No special documentation required. Proper registration is all. Don't attempt to take live bait across the border!

I pretty out of touch with present regs but as I understand it
don't be fishing over there without the proper paper.
As I understand it you can lose your whole rig if you do.

The towns name is Cloyne. It is a small resort with cabins located around 6 or 7 huge lakes. The resorts name is Twin Pines.

Write down the plate# of you truck and trailer and provide it to the crossing guard, they need this info to put into computer, and appreciate it when they don't have to go out and look at the tags on the vehicles. Just might make your crossing a little bit smoother. You can take night crawlers in but they must not be in dirt, you must use worm bedding. (as of summer of 05)

Also don't forget to contact your insurance company. Requirements are different in Canada. Most American companies will give you a verification and update card free of charge.

all correct info... family has been vacationing in canada for 15 years now and always traveled with boats. as long as you have your license and registration cards, you're fine. at the border, they'll ask nationality, where you going, how long you staying, etc. more interested in what you're bringing in (rules on tobacco and alcohol, read up on them).

FYI, sometime in 2007 (you can google it), you'll need a passport to enter and return from canada.

I live in Wisconsin and am not required to license my boat trailer. Is this going to be a problem when bringing my boat and trailer into Canada?

Some you rmay need to know but you already have a oating class in, I believe this summer you now have to have a cert. for driving a boat in Ontario (possibly across Canada).

My family wons 3 cabins Lake kagawong on Manitoulin Island in Lake Huron and we have owned them for 45 years now. Just answer the questions they ask, don't have fishing gear in view, and clain stuff you buy at the duty-free store.

I live in Wisconsin and take my boat and trailer and motorhome to Canada twice a year. I have never been asked for registration or any documentation going in or coming out. Went through just this month and will go back August 1st. Just remove sunglasses and have passports ready and do not take any live bait with you. Enjoy your fishing.

Ditto, and no potatoes again this year.

To be safe, we don't take any fresh fruit or veggies across the border, as we never know what they may decide to ban.
We make a stop at a Canadian grocery store.

And don't get caught with even 1 extra fillet in your fridge.
When the wardens come knocking to do an inspection at 6 am, they will find it in the fridge.
Cost of that 1 extra 7 ounces of walleye, just over $500. (not me, but the guys in the next cabin.)

Daily bag limit is god to those wardens.
If you have your limit in the fridge/cooler/livewell - you better not tell then you had fish for dinner - seriously.
Tell then you had perch, or something you don't have in the cooler.
