A little while ago I went to get a flashlight out from behind the seat in our truck. It has not been driven in four days, it's been in the gaurge since the we used it to plow snow. I noticed it smelled like a wet basement.

While getting in and out of the truck snow got on the floor. When it was put in the heated gaurge the snow mealted and soaked the drivers floor mat, its been damp for a few days.

I think I caught it just in time, the floor mat was dripping and the rug under it was pretty damp. It was starting to smell moldy.

So check your car/truck if you've been tracking snow in and out of it,,,,no one likes a smelly car!

Aw come on. Its a truck.
just spill a couple MacDonalds drive thru cokes in the carpet and let the dirt stick to it. That will keep it from molding. Want proof? Just check out my van. :D

My dad has been saying that he need to get a rubber floor for about a year, they have a mat that covers the whole thing. It would be good for the winter.

I may get him one for christmas.

My trucks have the hose-m-out type flooring. When their full of dirt, McD wrappers, and trash, the leaf blower works good in the winter. During summer, the pressure washer works great.

SS

LOL, ironic thought ...

ya spend extra $$$ to get the carpet package ...

(and not for nothin, it DO quiet the interior down)

but then ...

ya go out and spend MORE bucks to cover over the carpet WITH RUBBER, the damm thing you were trying to avoid having in the truck in the first place!

SHEESH!

My Blazer has a rubber floor mat, Ill prolly KEEP it that way too

(well its not mine yet, but Im scheming away to get it, that will be THE TRUCK, bash it thru woods, grind it in sand, engine blocks in the back, lol, yanno, all the things I would wind up doing to the S-10 if I didnt have an alternate vent)

Don't feel too bad RyanT, it could be worse. Last winter our Jeep Grand Cherokee started to get the glorious wet carpet smell. We assumed it was from snowmelt, but as time went on, it got worse. It warmed up and rained really bad, then got cold. The better half came in after work and said the passenger side had ice in it. I walked out to check it out, the carpet was completely submerged in a few inches of frozen solid water. I proceeded to spend the weekend thawing it out, perplexed as to how that much water got in. As time went by, it would rain, I would suck out the water with the shop vac, and it just smelled worse and worse, like a moistened yak. Having finally had enough, I spent days and days with a hose and finally found the leak. It was a bad gasket on a wiring harness junction box that went through the inner fender down were your right foot would be. There was a chunk of dirt on the other side that detoured water right through the leaking gasket. I cleaned the dirt, fixed the gasket, dried it out, and havn't had a drop in it since.....

The smell is pretty much gone now, I can't smell it anymore. It was just the drivers floormat, I put it on the tailgate to dry out.

My dad is in Atlantic City for the weekend. When he called I told him that "your growing mold in your truck" He was like "I'M WHAT!!!" :D

It was funny,
It didn't get to the carpet under the floor mat, but I think the mat is trashed.

nah, just scrub the mat down with some bleach water, a splash of bleach into a bucket of water, scrub it down, be careful of your eyes tho, bleach is BAD stuff for eyes, and skin if its too strong a concentration. The concentration that will kill mold will def put a hurtin on your eyes, so be careful

check these outHusky Floor Mats these mats are awesome. instead of leaking off of the mat it just collects all of the water. all you have to do is just take it out and dump the water off of them.

JCSkeeter313 - I could not agree more. All my vehicles have Husky liners. I wouldn't be without them. You can spill a gallon of liquid and not one drop will get on the carpet underneath. They are a perfect molded fit and worth every penny. They have saved me more times than I can remember.
