Have a 1988 SeaRay Sundancer, Got a small leak in the Y-pipe exhast and was takeing on some water so had to pull the engine. needed a new O ring. The Y-pipe has 4 holes for bolts in it, 2 on top and 2 on bottom. but had only 3 act bolts in it.
after removing it i found thet the gimble plat has 4 hole also . BUT!!! it has one on the top, 2 on the bottom am one on the starboard side the boat has had two owners, myself and my brother neither one of us has ever change the Y-pipe or the gimble. SHOULD I HOOK IT BACK UP THE WAY I FOUND IT. with the 3 bolts or replace the Y with the right one

I would look on the internet, you should be able to find an eploded view of the engine and other parts. This would probably give you the best answer.

Re: Have a problem, Could Factory messed up???

thank you, i looked at an exploded view /s and could not find one that showed all the bolt patterns for both pc. so i can to the conclutio if it has worked this long, well im puting it back on as is. also i had some electrolysis going on around the bottom of the y-pipe. was very little clearance between it and the transom. Had dirt and debrie packed in there. so i cleaned it out and put JB weld around the flange edge and up on it about an inch. fig its not metal base and may give it some protection. i will check ( remove and clean all grounds) to help stop this prob since the engine is out anyway.
