have question regarding engine dimensions after transom repair

Trying to find front engine mount to rear engine mount dimension. After re-fiberglassing transom i have range of thicknesses flatness specs etc but can find nothing about engine mount. This is obviously critical but since front mount doesn't have adjustment may need to adjust thickness of transom to get it right.

I'm assuming what you mean by no adjustment is where the holes currently are for the front mount. If this is your meaning, then you need to fill in those holes and not change the thickness of the transom to meet those holes, you need new holes

Could just measure from the rear bell housing mounts on the motor to the front motor mount, then add the dimension of the transom plate thickness and mounts

Have to guess which year model, they should mostly be the same. Here's Mercruiser's drawing for Alpha 1.


The key measurement is from rear motor mounts to center of front mount. You can get that right off your motor. The drawing says it's 27 inches.

All front mounts are adjustable, rear mounts are fixed.

Ayuh,..... All front motor mounts are adjustable,.....

The way I find the point yer lookin' for is,......
Hang the motor, fasten the rear motor mounts, 'n align the motor on the hook,.....
When perfectly aligned, ya know exactly where to build up the front wooden mount too,......

Bondo took the words from my mouth. I had to core out, plug, and reglass due to twisted off lag bolts on my V6 mounts. I did as he said. Perfect results.
