So, I haven't gotten a clue as to what these do yet. I got three of them on each side running along the inside rail. What are these?

Bow supports. Used to tent a boat cover

You put something like this in them from side to side

Ohhh.... Keeps things from building up and falling off to the sides of the boat.

But up there in CT. you will get enough snow to make them useless. The gunwales will spread and the bows will snap down letting a ton of snow fill the boat. (Unless you go out during the storm and scrape it off.) Much better to ignore them and build a tent support out of 2 X 4s.
