A customer of mine for years drove up one morning with a brand new 25 HP Mercury on his 1960-something flat bottom. It won't start and it's brand new he said. Looked down and it had no kill switch lanyard on the side and the switch is off. I flipped it up and pulled it, varooooom it went and I killed it. He said "Never saw that, the old 20 never had one." What happened to the old 20 I said? "Well, I was going down the lake and it started missing, went a while farther and it really started knocking until it locked up. Sat there awhile and this fellow pulled me in" he said. I ask "What did you get for trade in for the old 20?" He said (with a big grin) "you told me when it messed up again I needed to throw it away, so when that fellow was pulling me in, I took it loose and dropped it in the lake."<br />I thought he was kidding. Well, about a week later this guy comes in wanting a set of spark plugs. He goes on to tell me about this old man he was pulling in the other day just took his outboard loose and dumped it in the lake.
