Rodbolt and Ray: For a 6 year old Yamaha 250hp, is it a good idea to change the Headgaskets as Preventative Maintenance?

Nothing is wrong, it's just that I'm on a big PM kick lately and want to do all I can while the boat is pulled and sitting next to my house. (Oh yeah...and it's not 2 degrees !!)

John

I wouldn't normally replace head gaskets as a maintence item, but having seen some corrosion problems with the heads and salt water use on those models, I would change them and carefully inspect everything while they were off.

Thanks guys. I figured just removing the head bolts alone is a good idea. Why not just do it now and not worry about it for another 5 years.

John
