No...... If it's the new type shinny looking gasket, there is usually a notaion on it saying "Use No Sealer". Simply install it.

If it's the old type, simply coat it with oil.

Be sure to torque it down properly and in the proper sequence.

Re: Head Gasket sealant?

Thanks Joe and Bhile.....I used OMC non hardening sealant since gasket wasn't sticky or shiny. The head was numbered in sequence and I torqued them at 18, also put an exhaust cover gasket.

Tried it in the lake, ran better than it has done but still carbs seem to load up. I set the floats parallel last time I rebuilt the carbs. Wondering if I should adjust floats a different way?

Takes a long time to get to plane 4000rpm's at full throttle. When it planes runs at 5600 rpm's wot.

Any suggestions?

Thanks you guys have been a great help already....hope you can help me out a little more. ( This is a Rinker V170 bow rider that has sat for 10 years )
