Head gasket

Does the head gasket go on dry? I plan on coating the bolts with perfect seal.1956 Evinrude 7520.Thanks-B

I've always installed dry w/no issues.

If the new head gasket says "use no sealer " on it you don't use any. If not use OMC gasket sealing compound or Permatex # 3.

I concern with boobie's suggestion. However, before replacing it, did you check to verify there was no warp-age by using a straight edge across the head? If the head gasket blew out in one section, it is a good idea to verify it still totally flat so you don't have the same problem again... JMHO!

It was actually preventative.Over heated the engine and baked the exaust cover gasket,so I figured do the head as well since shipping is flat rate.I did lap the head as per the manual and followed the sequence in 3 steps.
