Welcome to iboats.<br /><br />Anytime you remove the head, you need to replace the head gasket. You have to replace the water jacket gasket if you remove the water jacket cover. You don't have to replace both if you only remove one, and you don't have to remove the water jacket cover to remove the head. I hope this helps.
