Head Odor Troubleshooting

Hello Captains,

Just bought a 2002 Regal 3260. During pre-purchase inspection and survey, no problems noted with the head. After taking delivery and using the toilet, observed odor during flush. Odor has now permeated the cabin. The only waste going into the toilet is liquid. Can't eliminate odor. Have tried various odor killing additives to the holding tank with no success. Recent pump-out using a portable unit was FOUL smelling. Water supply is sea water via through-hull. Any Regal owners run across problems related to this model? Previous owner installed a Jabsco electric conversion kit. Toilet bowl will hold water for awhile, but it eventually dries out. Jabsco says this is normal. Don't know if system is properly vented or plumbed. Anybody?

Try this
followed directions filled with water all the way to the top
tried to get some through the vent to help clean it out.
after a week setting I pumped it out and also used the pump out on the vent to make sure it was clear
I now have no oder

Carefully check your hoses to and from the holding tank.
They can become premeated with odor.
Actually one way to test is grab them then smell your hand. They can be that bad.

I would do a pump out refilling the tank with water and pumping out the water. Check your vent line. You'd be suprised how much of a role this line plays in the tanks maintainance. Hoses can be affected but Usually if the tank is thouroughly cleaned and the vent working the odor will go away.

OOps,, Capt Zac already says this...

Yeah! what he said....

Definitely check to make sure the vent is clear, I had some hornets plug the vent on mine once, it wasn't pretty. I don't know how old the tubing is on your boat but some of the black rubber stuff can pick up odor over time.
