Pulled the heads on my 115 to replace the water diverters and gaskets.I found 1 head with alot of pitting on the bottom cylinder. It was obviously rebuilt at one time and the head was not replaced. Is it safe to run a pitted head or should i replace it.

Re: HEAD QUESTION

hello
we have used a grinder to smooth many a pit caused by ring and bearing bits. the key is to make the surface smooth with no projections. as long as the pit does not hit water and nothing protrudes into the combustion chamber there is no worries
if ya wanna see factory pits pull the head from any looper jonnyrude and have a look at it
