Does anyone have experience getting the head operating? Do I have to fill the water tank first? When and where do you put the disinfectant and deodorant liquid? As you can see I don't know much except where to put the water in and where to pump out the waste. Thanks.

most common heads have a sea **** that supplies the input water. You just turn on the thru hull and pump.

when your done you turn the small valve from pump in to pump out and then the discharge goes into a holding tank. I alway charge that tanks with a few gallons of fresh water and a chemical.

other heads have one tank and they must have a gallon or so in it to start the operation. a picture would tell us.

Is this a seacock that supplies lake water OR water from the on board water system? When and where do you put the "blue" fluid? I wll get a picture posted tommorow/Sunday if you don't mind checking the posts then. Thanks much.

yes most heads are supplied by lake water. You dont want the supply coming from your house tank. You just dump the blue stuff in the bowl it will get to the holding tank add a bit of water.

Go here, download the manual for your '88 Sundancer.

http://www.searay.com/Page.aspx/pageId/10411/Owners-Manuals.aspx

If it's not a self-contained portable toilet, then depending on the type of head it could be a seawater or freshwater toilet. If it's a porcelain bowl, it's either a manual flush or a vacuum flush head. Operating instructions are in the manual above.

.....and be careful what you put into your head. Blue stuff? Needs to be approved for a holding tank. If you add anything that kills bacteria, you may have a problem later. Most holding tank additives promote bacteria growth. which aids in the breakdown of solids. No bleach, no antiseptics.

What type of head pump do you have?

Why not? I have a fresh water (tank fed) vac-u-flush head and it works fantastic. No odor coming from raw water, no stains, or outside organisms? What's your thought on wanting a raw water head?

Vacu-flush pulls from the freshwater holding tank and it's true it reduces head odors. Manual pump heads use a much larger volume of water to flush as compared to a vacu-flush. They can be configured to pull from the holding tank as well, but rarely are because of the impact on freshwater usage.

You should be able to put a small inline strainer between the seacock and the head to keep from sucking up junk and pumping into the sanitation system. Use Marine/RV holding tank deoderizer, pour some water into the bowl, then the deoderizer, then flush it into the holding thank. Put some clean water ontop of the that. There should be instructions on the bottle. The holding tank deoderizer can be bought at any marine or RV supplier.

I'm trying to find the way to post pictures of the head from this boat. Could you please guide me to the instructions on how to attach pictures from my hard drive? Thanks.

Another good thing about water tank supplied Heads ... there is ONE Less HOLE in your boat lol :) .

Holes...switch valves..lockouts.. too much if you have a 27 footer IMHO..

Id go Freashwater vacuflush anyday :) .

YD.

PS. IF in fact you have a raw water Pickup for your head .. then you should have a gallon of Distilled water to final flush/rinse when you leave it in slip for the week when your not using it. .. just me though..
