OK guys first off I'll apologize for being not checking in for a while. It's been a challenging year. Not a lot of fishing, or working on boats. Concentrated mostly on being a Dad a Husband and an Engineer.

Wife's been sick, not life threatening but life altering.
Son with Autism, fully functional but learning disability. He's a red belt in Karate, year 3.
Work sucks, lost all my good CNC machinists. Working twice as hard to try and keep up.
No time for fishing or boats. That will change for next year! Made it to one Lake St. Clair Walleye Association meeting all year. Not one trip onto Lake St. Clair, only two onto the River all year.
Blew up the motor in my Ranger:blue:. It's in pieces in my bros garage. So I bought a 98 Lincoln Mark 8 to tool around in. My buddy has a 14' Holiday in his yard for Zach. Springtime project, however the Sea Nymph will need to go.

Bring me up to speed on what you bums are doing. I want all the dirt, spill your guts.:gossip:

I see;
Jas bought another Islander. I saw a 32' Marinette for sale in Algonac, go big Jas.

Dozer started the SOTY thread. Dude there's no poll to vote?? And only one picture of a boat, and it's got a Canadaian flag on it. Really?

OK guys. I'm back. I won't leave you unsupervised for extended lengths any more. You know what they saw, there's only one way out of the Starcraft forum.......

Peace

Re: Heard the Mob was looking for me.

Good to see you back BD, it really sucks you have had no time for the good things in life working on the boat and fishing with your son being a big one.
The SOTY is still up for Nominations, that I reminds me I better bump that up, If I remember right we want the voting to begin the middle of next month.

It will prolly take you two weeks to catch up just on the new stuff in Jasons thread let alone all the rest of us plus the new guys.

He's Baaaack! :) Sorry that life and work got in the way, BD. Sounds like Zach is still kickin' butt and hope things with the Admiral turn out OK.
Jason finally figured out where to put the batteries and then :boom:You have to check out his threads - Yes, I said threads. Of course more glasser destruction too.

You will be reading a while - Plenty of new Starmada members have joined the madness. And Zach has a new Holiday to work on - mmm. Welcome back!

Re: Heard the Mob was looking for me.

Glad to be back. Thanks everyone.

Zach has had let's see: White, Yellow, Orange, Green, Purple, Blue, and Red belt promotions. About 150 sparring rounds too. Attitude is on again off again, Autism sucks. I've learned I know nothing about women or child raising. LOL Zach will have a junior black belt in about 1-1/2 years and have over a thousand rounds sparring in. He still needs, Advanced Red, Brown, Intermediate Brown, Advanced Brown and finally admittance into the black belt camp for the all elusive black belt (junior status).

So who are the new members?

Jason's threads scare me. It's like getting sucked into a soap opera. Sumfin blew up? OK which thread and what page? Does he still have all his fingers and toes? Glasser destruction never gets old. did he blow up a glasser??? I've still got 6 vacation days to use by January first, point me in the right direction. Oh man I feel myself getting sucked in again. It's like watching Moonshiners, just can't turn away, want to, can't.

As the Tinnie Turns.
One Life for Tin.
Keeping up with the KarJasions.

Yes, the Islander (22 footer) went under the knife. She suffered a bowectomey. The good news is she is took it well and the scarring is healing nicely. :D

Re: Heard the Mob was looking for me.

Welcome back, hope the Admiral gets to feeling better soon.

Congrats to Zach on several more belts & matches, plus a 14' Holiday pending!

Dig in, Dozer posted links to the SOTY threads, I added a pix of each after you posted IM's.

A few new tin threads over in the resto section too. And someone, finally, against the odds & all, has started a tin rebuild & is at the epoxy going on the transom stage :D 1957 Duracraft Duraflite Custom

Best of luck w/ the work challenges, I've weathered a few of those in 2013 as well.

Have a great weekend.

Hey, what about that Offshore buddy, whatcha doing with that eh?:noidea:

Offshore will be used in spring of next year. Contemplated selling it and finding a 16 foot Mariner outboard. My buddy just picked up a 16 foot Mariner, sweet rig for the Detroit River. The Offshore is too cool though. Perfect for Lake St Clair Muskie maybe Lake Erie. The 14 footer is a good bass rig around Harsens Island and L'anse Cruse Bay.

Zach is having problems at school, we're looking at putting him in Macomb Intermediate School District. They have Autism specialists there. I still can't believe how little most teacher know about kids on the spectrum. Also how little money they have dedicated to special needs. He may not get a High School diploma but I believe he will get a black belt by 11 years old. His round house is chin high to another 9 year old. He caught one of the Brown belts under the chin (and under the face shield)with a front kick the other day! Popped him good while sparring.

Wife is sick, this puts a little more burden on me at home. She can't do some of the things she used to. I asked Zach if he wanted to trade her in. He got cheesed at me. I asked him if she was super hot and had a bass boat would it be ok? No go, he loves his Mom and threatened to throw bass boat mom in jail if I bring her home.

Work sucks, bad.

You traded the 16 foot Nymph?!#$?? You crazy, that boat was a perfect walleye river rig. Well as long as you're happy dude. I see you haven't kept the Canucks in line during my hiatus. They own the forum now. Did you trade it for some Molson, back bacon and yellow perch?? Should I add eh, to every other sentence now? The Wings are so gonna own the Leafs this year. Can't wait till April, man I hope the Leafs make the playoffs, prolly won't.

OK, peace out.

Oh almost forgot, I picked up a decent air compressor, sandblaster, spray guns, bore gages, micrometerers, cherry picker, and a bunch more tools. I need to use them now. I'm praying next year is a boating and fishing year and everyone is healthy.

Don

Good to see you back BD! All-the best to you and your family.

I've also taken somewhat of a tin hiatus due to a recently doubled-workload (less-time) & the Admiral resigning from her ungrateful, uninspiring place of employment (less-resto$).

Sneaking to the garage to work the aluminum heap has been therapeutic ...even in small doses. At least rivets are cheap :)

He was talking a bit ago about looking at a place on the great lakes. My bet is he was looking on either the east side of huron or north side of superior. Can't beat em, join em? (eh?)

Sorry to hear about all your troubles, bud. Hope all goes well with the missus. Autism sucks; I'm a pretty decently educated dude and I know next to nothing about it. I sure wish our society talked about problems like that rather than shuffling them under the rug.

I'm one of the new guys. Feel free to peruse my threads... a.k.a. "tear stuff apart then get pulled onto another project"

Does he still have all his fingers and toes? Glasser destruction never gets old. did he blow up a glasser??? now you done it dood, i keep having visions of Wile E. Jas expectantly opening his Acme Glasser Destruction Kit.....

really glad to see you're OK despite a few waves over the bow. First Mate's skill set seems to be continually improving, and in this crazy world, who knows whether a HS diploma (or kollege degree!) is worth much. autistic & Asperger's people tend to do pretty well relating to animals (Temple Grandin would be the extreme example), so maybe steering him towards something that involves 4 leggers would be good. ?? it's always a good sign that he reacts that negatively to bringing a glass boat home..... :)

Re: Heard the Mob was looking for me.

Hang in there Don... Zach will be just fine with parents staying involved like it sounds like you guys are doing.

My youngest child is almost 16 now and was diagnosed with Autism 12 years ago. It has seriously been a hard row to plow. You have to stay very active in your boys school just like you're doing. The Karate or Taekwondo is a very good outlet for him and I would encourage you to join in, if you haven't already. He would enjoy sparring with his Dad. My son was probably 12 or 13 when he really started taking the Taekwondo seriously. (He had to... or I'd hook kick him in the head  )

There are also some online public schools you can look into. You or the Admiral would have to be available during the day for that though. (I did K-12 online with him for a couple of years)

Re: Heard the Mob was looking for me.

Thanks guys. No place I'd rather be than this forum.
Acme Glasser Destruction Kit:laugh:. That's so Jas. He really knows how to make friends. Thanks for that Barato. Cutting up an Islander, no one would do that.

Yeonik, how goes it my Mich Bro. I'll check out that Ski Champ, I love those.

BlueFin16, next year is year of the tin. Gonna finish a few projects. I've got two guys at work I'm spending a lot of time training. I'll be back to drinking coffee by spring. Slinging rivets after work too.

InMotion, nice recipe for stripper and flour. Now back to the lab for some Tin rejuvenation and project finishing elixir. I'll take a gallon of that.

Good to see ya Ga. I ventured into jas's threads. He cut the Islander up, and traded his finished Sea Nymph for some magic beans and a huge tub that needs tons of work. Blew some glassers up and made a bunch of new friends. Ya can't make this stuff up (I thought ya did though).

CJ8mule: thanks for the kind words and your service. Some days it's tuff, it wears me out. It's all worth it though. A hook kick will get you attention real quick! Zach needs that in his arsenal, me too. Do your home work or I'll hook kick you. Bwahaha. We're practicing Kung Fu Cross and Snapping Branch tonight. The wife voted for swimming instead of Karate. How you gonna break some ones neck with a breast stroke??? Women!

Dozer, JB thanks. Someones got to keep the Starmada rolling.

Best regards,
Bwana Don
