Re: Heat alarm
Just to the left and up from the top spark plug you should see an opening from which a tan wire is exposed. That wire leads in to a temperature switch. If the engine overheats, the switch closes the circuit to whatever horn or light you choose to use as an alarm.
Wire a signal device to the positive side of your circuit, run a tan wire to the switch, and, if the engine overheats, the alarm will activate.
You can see the engine diagram at the BRP parts diagram for your motor.

Once you have selected the year and model number of your motor, navigate to the cylinder and crankcase diagram.
The third icon at the top left of the diagram will enlarge the diagram so that you can save it to your computer as a picture with your right mouse button.
You can download the parts list to your Excel program if you choose.
Edit; if you have the original wiring harness and remote control, the horn was located inside the control. The switch at the engine usually did not go bad, but the horns did.
The horn had a positive feed off the ignition switch and the tan wire ran from the horn back to the temperature switch at the engine. See the Remote Control diagram at the BRP parts catalog for your motor.
