Ok, I have an OMC 260. It has a heat exchanger. Does this mean that it does not use raw water for cooling? Is it just like a radiator, or does it use this heat exchanger in addition to raw water cooling? If the former, am I off the hook from using brass freeze plugs and marine head gaskets? Im not cheap, I just dont want to get into the engine if I don't have to.

From your other post:

S.B chevy, OMC 260, marinizing a high torque 350

If you are using the heat exchanger, then engine coolant with antifreeze will be circulating through your engine just like a car. The question would be - is this engine already the one in the boat and is original from OMC? What do you mean by "high torque 350?" Is that something that OMC uses to describe the engine, or are you using an engine you have from another vehicle and putting into this OMC package?

If you are using an engine from a car, there are some other issues to be aware of. Not saying it can't be done - just some things you need to be aware of.
