First of all I appologize.... I posted a topic few months ago asking for help about choosing correct power for my boat and then I dissapeared from forum. Sorry folks...had some troubled waters.
Anyway I got a new 150 4 stroke Yamaha on board and it runs great. Planes at about 13 knots with 2500 rpm (out of 5500) and goes 23 at 3500 rpm. And the boat is much like Parker 2120 Sport Cabin. Lenght 22 Beam 8,3 Weight 4800 lbs (with crew). Its called "Golden Heart" (D. Adams). And of course I have a questio for you.
The boat is a bit bow heavy. Ok. Ok. I know its good to have bow down when planing but its just a bit too much. It acts like a supertanker. It just goes through without climbing the wave no matter if I go downsea or upsea. Would it help to put some extra weight to stern? Any cool new (or old) gadgets theat would lift that bow up a bit?

How about a set of trim tabs? I'm almost sure that would solve your problem.

Any way you can move some weight aft? How are you using your trim? The goal is to have the boat riding on the aft 1/3rd of the hull when at and above planing speed. Trims tabs would exagerate your problem. Maybe you can do some prop swapping, there are props that can help lift the bow. I would first look at weight distribution and your trimming technique, and go from there. Good luck...

Trim tabs will only cause more bow down issues. Do you have any planing devices on the boat (ie: hydrofoil) ? Are you using a transom wedge?

Re: Heavy bow boat...

I am still testing the boat so my trimming is probably not pefect yet becouse I had 2-3 sea state since I installed new outboard so proper testing was imposible to do. But one thing is for shure... no matter how exessive out trim I apply...bow goes up very little and it seams it should go higher. (perhaps I should lern it to smoke).
No problem Baldguy... I figured out you were driving in opposite direction :) .
JasonJ... yes, my first thinking was about moving some weight aft, but the problem is that there is no weight I could actually MOVE, only thing I can do about it is to add weight in form of ballast, so I am not shure if it would degrade performance too much. Ill try with couple of my BIG friends on the aft bench.
nautiJohn... transom wedge? Sorry man I am Croatian and english is not my native language. What is transom wedge??? I took a look at it and I just cant figure out what it does. I can trim my engine out until it starts ventilating if it is about that. Hydrofoil....hm...sounds interesting. Is there some web plase where I could look it up how it is installed and what it does to performance of boat?
Shep.... I dropped a line :) .
