Hey guys, I'm hoping i'm doing this right. I am just taking a shot in the dark. Ok so here's the story. Last summer I bought a 1989 Arriva ski boat. I probably shouldn't have but it was a long drive and things seemed ok to me. After a few uses i noticed the lower end would shift back and fourth when i pushed and pulled on it.. has anyone else experienced this with the Force 150? A guy took a quick look at it and said "yup gotta be the motor mounts I can fix it for 1500 bucks" Is that nessisary? I originally thought it was a feature that prevented the engine from trimming too high as when it got to a certain point it pushes back and stays there. so first thing if anyone knows about that, and could help with some info that would be great.

Next, I noticed a few soft spots in the floor but wasn't too concerned but now this year they seem to be worse. I really don't know anything about redoing the interior but I am hoping there is some people on here that could give me some pointers. I'll take the two driver and navigator seats out and see where to go from there but do I have to take out everything or is it possible to just cut out around the areas that are soft and replace without it looking like a pile of crap. what kind of pastes and things do i need. sorry there is alot goin on right now i'm tryin to figure things out without having the funds which is why i'm more upset about all this then anything.

I went to a lady today to see about upholstry and she wanted a thousand dollars just to do the 4 back cusions and the bow cushions. not even the sides so.. would that be really hard to just order the material and do myself?

again i'm sorry this post is kind of all over the place but everything seemed to just jump out at me at once and i'm losing my mind..

I'm not exactly following what the problem is with the motor. Maybe picture or diagram? A video would be perfect.

Regarding the soft spots in the sole: You have rot, possible a lot of it. Head over to the restoration area for numerous threads on how to deal with this.

Regarding the upholstery: You can get brand new replacement seats for less than half that amount. Yes, you could make new covers yourself, but sewing vinyl isn't like sewing a hem in your jeans. You need the proper thread and equipment. But not impossible. However, i wouldn't spend a nickel on this part of the project until you know the boat is worth fixing at all. Refer to second paragraph above.

so i'm back again. I had my lower end removed and welded and seemed to be fixed but after putting it back together we noticed that now something has moved out of place and now the prop shaft doesn't sit centre or turn. I am trying to find out if a 1991 150 lower end will be interchangeable with my 89 as it is the closest one i can find. If anyone can help

I think it will, but ask your question over in the Force & Chrysler Outboards section. There are a couple of guys who hang out there who are veritable Force and Chrysler encyclopedias.
