height my outboard

Could someone please tell me what height my outboard should be on the transom. <br />When I sitting on seat my boat plasch me gently watter to my back.<br />The cavitation plate is 4cm below the bottom of my boat Brig Falcon Rider 400L with Deep ?V? rigid hull<br /> http://www.brigboats.com/falcon-rider.html <br />Motor is a Honda BF 25A long.<br />Length boat overall is 393cm, ft/in 12'11"<br />Bottom type rigid bottom (RIB)<br />On manual is boat is for outboard Long, Outboard is Long.<br />What's wrong?<br />Thanks<br />Viki

Viki...the motor is too low. raise it so the cavitation plate us just ABOVE the bottom of the transom, 1-2cm is good. There should be multiple mounting holes in outboard mounting bracket, or, add a wooden block if you are clamping motor onto transom. Chief

Thank's Chief<br />I have there more mounting holes on the outboard Honda and I can move up 3 cm. One centimeter is <br />O.K.<br />Viki :)

When the boat is on plane Viki, there shouldn't be water on the up-side of the cavitation plate. Good luck. Chief

And Viki,<br /><br />Your English is good - so forget that 'cavitation plate' nonsense. We all say it, and it's wrong.<br /><br />The proper term is 'antiventilation plate'. <br /><br />The antiventilation plate, which sits just above your prop, is put there so that your prop does not suck in surface air - in other words, so that it does not ventilate.<br /><br />Cavitation is a whole different ball game.
