Height of kicker motor recommendation?

I have a 9.9 outboard I want to mount as a kicker on my 23 foot boat. I've bought a bracket to attach to the transom. Unfortunately, the only place I can mount the bracket on my transom is in one particular spot due to the main engine swing and my trim tabs. The issue is, with that position, the kicker propeller does not hang below the boat. It would be underwater, just not below the boat line. I'm wondering how much of an issue this is and if anyone else has this problem.

Are we talking about an adjustable kicker bracket?

Mine has about 20" of vertical range so you can keep it lower while in use if needed.

Since it's for trolling at displacement speeds the prop doesn't need to be as low as it would when the hull is on plane. For that reason you may be all set as long as the water intakes are underwater.

A picture of the stern of your boat and the bracket in question would help.

Good luck!
