Re: Helicoil

Check with a Heli-coil rep. , you will need a special heli-coil tap . You will need to drill & tap to the correct size. Take it slow and you should be OK! You will need the info on the correct thread required, then you will have to drill out the correct dia. for the new tap, & insert the Heli.

Hello.
The best way to figure that one out is by taking the plug with you to the store where you buy the coil. They should be available in a set with a tap.
good luck.

Re: Helicoil

Thanks for the info. I am trying to by it from ebay for about a third of the price, but I need to know the size so that I can buy the right one. Does any body know if M14 is the right size or what should be the size?

Thanks once again

Re: Helicoil

Hello.
Are we talking the same helicoil????
I bought a package of four helicoils for my old outboard for all of $6.45. This was in an ordinary auto parts store.
The whole deal with threading equipment is less than 20 box brand new.In my opinion not the sort of money to take chances on somebody else's reasons for putting it up on e-bay!!!!
A lousy thread on a helicoil usually translates into a cylinder head replacement.

Re: Helicoil

If it were mine I'd take the plug to an automotive parts store and make sure I got the right one. It should be under $20 doe the kit but if it's a little higher than ebay I'd pay the difference for the peace of mind it was the right size.
