[/B]Hello, any help would be greatly appreciated! I was on the Minnesota River With my Force 50 Horse, when I noticed the overheat light and the gauge was spiked over 260 degrees. It could have been this way for 40-60 seconds. As I throttled back the, engine died. Since then, the Engine will not start, but shows some sign of life by a few bangs. Compression tests show around 100psi on both cylinders. I was leaning toward a head gasket (after the overheat) but 100psi puts me on the fence. Since I know less than nothing about marine engines, I was hoping someone could save me!

Speaking generically the heat may have cooked the coils or some other component, even the plugs. 100 psi is considered the minimum. It is good that it is even.
You might squirt some oil in the cylinders and recheck compression. If it goes up then its rings,or cylinder scoring.Could just be rings stuck with carbon
probably unrelated to the overheat.Be sure to ground the plug wires when checking compression.
A decarb with sea foam or similar product might help free the rings.
I would check for spark.Use a ser. manual as careless handling could further damage the ignition parts. You may find a manual at the library.
