Hello, and a question

Hi everybody. I'm new to the message board but have owned and worked around boats for 20+ years. I wanted to find out if anybody here has had any experience with aftermarket lower units for Mercruisers, specifically an alpha 1 gen. 2? I just bought this boat, and have a twisted prop shaft. The lower unit I'm looking at is supposedly new with a 1 yr. warranty and is all Merc compatible for $780 shipped to me. The prop shaft alone is about $300, plus all the labor and seals and a new skeg is probably going to be close to that. Any input?

Well, I guess we'll find out. I ordered one yesterday and it is supposed to be here in a few days. Complete new lower unit with new water pump and a 1 year warranty for $790 shipped. Supposedly made in Florida (is there a city named Florida in China?). I'll let you know how it turns out.

one thing u can be sure of.. it wont be made in china.. bit too much of minority market for the chinese to bother with.. probably a bit too low tech for em as well.. he he<br /><br />sez he looking at his cheapo chinese angle grinder.. power drill. generator.. errr wrenches.. digital camera.. hy-fy.. whilst typeing this on his computer thats full of chinses bits whilst looking at his chinese lcd screen.... he he he<br /><br />everthying in my house is made in bloody china.. they aint got near my old boat yet thow.. he he he <br /><br />trog100
