Hello and question about t-top

My first post here. Just bought a new (used) Sea Hunt Navigator 22 and am wondering if it's possible to have a small lookout fabricated and mounted atop the t-top.

I'm thinking maybe four "feet" could have pins to mount a small slatted aluminum floor, four posts and a rail. The feet would mount directly on top of the t-top supports with rubber gaskets between the canvas and the feet. The tower could then be pinned in place and easily removed. I guess it would only need to be about 3.5 feet tall, just enough to stand on and hold the rail. Of course a ladder would be incorporated on the side of my t-top.

My biggest question/concern is would a t-top support the weight of a person on a platform like that? My current t-top has removable pins so that the upper portion can be removed for easily parking under a roof.

Any advice or suggestions?

Re: Hello and question about t-top

You would want to tie all the structure in to the flat aluminum plates on either side of your electronics box. And rather than an aluminum "floor", I would suggest a fiberglass floor w/non-skid, cored. That way it won't flex much. There should be many fabricators in the panhandle that are very familiar with doing this sort of stuff, I know there are a bunch here in Tampa Bay...

What you want is a very common item. But, as was mentioned, i would go with a fiberglass floor for stability and rigidity.

Thanks guys. You don't think weight would be an issue? Holding a 200lb man on top would be no problem?

That T-top is made of minimum 1 1/2" aluminum tubing as well as cross-braced. You could probably put a cow up there with you , as well (that is, if you wanted one).
