Helmut pin removal

Trying to remove the outdrive. 1983 Volvo AQ270. The helmut pin doesn’t have the holes for the 1/4” x 20 bolt to remove it. Any trade secrets to get the pin out? Drill and tap and use slide hammer? Here’s what it looks like.

Take a punch and a hammer and knock it from side to side which should get it loose. I remember some of those, at least Volvo made a change.

I buggered it up pretty bad, but your method worked. Thank you!!

Take a bit of flat bar, weld in two pins to make a spanner and work it back and forth

Good idea! Unfortunately i used a punch before i read your post. I know how for next time now.
