My Bullet is extremely slow out of the hole with a 78 200 Evinrude with a jackplate turning a 24 p Turbo prop, I feel that my motor could be mounted too low. Where should my prop shaft or cavitation plate in relation to the pad on my boat?

I should also add that below about 40 mph it wants to porpoise really bad. I feel that these are both possibly caused by the motor height.

I have owned it for a few months now and just rebuilt the lower unit. I have not done a compression test but there has been a recent one done as the numbers are still written on the heads all within 110-115

They run surprisingly well on 5 of 6 cylinders.----Have you checked for proper spark on all 6 leads?.----Proper spark will jump a gap of 7/16" or more.---Test compression today.----Run motor on a dyno to evaluate power output ?

Can I check the spark just like on a car by pulling them out and setting them on the block? Also, I don't have access to a dyno to do exact power output.

Using the sparkplugs is not a valid test.----The 7/16" gap tests maximum ignition output and the health of the system !

Would the spark plugs still be an issue if I get through the porpoise and smooth out at about 40 mph running 3800 rpms trimmed all the way down?

Even thought the cowling says 200hp it was powerhead rated...it is equal to a GT150. What size jackplate and current engine height??

The prop shaft is about 6 1/2” below the pad. It is a 6 inch manual jackplate.

(1) Take the tuck out of jackplate as its killing you positive trim. (2) Is that a Shooter or Stiletto 4 blade? (3) Need to come up about a inch but need water pressure gauge to go higher.

It is a Turbo prop 24 pitch. Should the cavitation plate be even with the pad?
