My water wasn't spitting out like it had been so the mechanic said I needed to replace the thermostat and he did. Ran it 4-5 times and it had running reel good peed great. This weekend I noticed the water was barely coming out then stopped coming out of the bypass hose on top of the block. There was water still coming out of the back of the engine with the exhaust but I limped it back into the dock, the motor still ran good but just didn't want to push it. I cleaned fish then went to start the motor nothing. The starter would barely engage. I thought I may have seized the motor up. Well all that was was a loose battery connection, problem 1 solved.
But, would that loose battery connecting make the thermostat stop working and not pump water. I thought the impeller ran off the engine. I need help in solving this problem. Bad thermostat? or do I need a new impeller? Thanks for your response.

I think you need to check your water pump !! If the water pump was working and your thermostat was bad, I believe that you will still get water circulation. I think that maybe you need a new mechanic.

battery has nothing to do with thermostat or water pump.

check your impeller

Could I still run it if the water is coming out of the exhaust holes in the back and not the tell tale by pass hose?

Not sure, but I don't know if I would want to chance it. It doesn't take much to drop the lower and change out the impeller, or at least check it.

one of the more experienced members may have a better answer to that question.
