HELP! 85 HP Johnson Year 1980 Oil to Gas Mixture?

I just bought a Nitro boat that has an 85 HP Johnson, the motor year is 1980. What is the proper oil to gas mixture? I think it's 50:1 but want to make sure. Also would you recommend 89 octane gas over 87 octane for better engine performance? Thanks a lot!

Howdy, Lake.<br /><br />Yep. 50:1 is the right mix.<br /><br />89 octane will not improve performance over 87. Just be sure that the 87 octane unleaded is alcohol-free.<br /><br />Good luck.
