Folks - relatively new here and to boating. I have a '99 Javelin Ski n' Fish with a 115 FFI that starts cold on the first try every time I put her in the water. However, if I cut the engine to fish for awhile and try to start back up, it doesn't want to start. The more I cut off, the harder it is to start back up. I tried giving it some throttle in fast idle as I cranked and that worked twice, but not every time. I tried priming the bulb once and it seemed to have noe effect (although it did not get hard, strangely, but I heard the fuel moving through as I pumped). By the end of the outing, it seemed like I just had to let it sit for about 20 minutes before it wanted to start back up. I would appreciate any thoughts on what my problem (or mere ignorance) might be.

This one you would have to trouble shoot when the problem occurs. My first guess would be a loss of spark problem.

So would you recommend cleaning or replacing the spark plugs? Is that something I can do myself or do I need to take it in?

I would recommend taking into a GOOD Evinrude dlr who's familiar with both Fichts and E-tec mtrs. The spark plugs only go in one way on those mtrs as they have to be "Indexed" for proper operation. A GOOD dlr would also have a lap top computer to see if you have any failure codes in the mtr. In this world today you need a lap top to be able to work on them.
Go to BRP-Evinrude- find a dealer. com for the closest one near you
