HELP! Adobe/Excel files

I need to covert a .pdf file to a format that excel can understand. I have a large .pdf file that is in tablet form with lots of text and numbers in it. I want convert it to an excel file so that I can edit it and make new entries. I hope someone can help with this. Thanks-

open up excel first and then go to open file from the menu or icon shortcut. select the file you're trying to open, you might need specify all files at the bottom of the 'open file' dialog box since it defaults to excel files and you're not opening an excel file.<br /><br />once you do this, it will ask you how you want the file spaced. this is often trial and error to see how your .pdf was saved. i usually start by checking 'delimited' and the next screen will let you chose what is spaced with (tabs, semicolons, or whatever). hit finish when you're ready to take a look.

I have acrobat 5, can edit pdf's if you need...

i was excited for awhile...<br /><br />salty- i tired your method, but i get nothing but a jumbled mess. tried every possible combination, but no luck. the original document was created in a program called SPECSINTACT that only produces .pdf files. i was told by someone that i could export from adobe and reformat when it's in excel, but can't seem to get that to work either.<br /><br />ugh....

Sorry matt. I tried a bunch of different ways and could not get it to work. I can get the text out and into excel without it being formatted delimited it is just a mess. I wish you luck

I have had luck using some software called "Monarch" that works well on pdf's about 70% of the time depending on the complexity of the extract model. If you have the adobe software you can try saving as .txt then import that file to excel - you will loose the formating though.
