HELP!!!!!!Anybody know anything about 1996 Evinrude 112 SPL's

I'm looking at purchasing a 1996 Evinrude 112 special, Compression is 115 psi on all cylinders, The motor seems to be in good shape. Wanted to know what problems people have had with this year/model motor. Anything that I should be aware of, any inherent problems or quirks ?????????? <br /><br />Thanks

It was a good engine when new.<br /><br />Moving to General Outboard

from what ive read on this forum its still before omc changed hands, so the quality should still be good.<br />you dont see them for sale to often.<br />if it looks good, all the #s match- go for it.<br />the motor is only as good as the last person who took care of it.<br />if its high dollar spend the forty bucks & have the heads pulled to make sure the cylinders are ok before you leave with it.<br />if i had done that with mine i would have found out the aluminum around the sleeves was eaten threw by salt water.
