Hey everyone. I am fishing out on Lake Michigan and my big motor just chewed up the alternator/air compressor belt. It's a simple four rib flat serpentine style belt, but none of the local marine repair shops have one on hand. Is there any chance that it would cross reference with a belt that I could find at a regular automotive parts store? If so, what would I be looking for? Thanks in advance.

I suppose I should say that it's a 1999 mercury optimax 150. Q series serial number.

You'll want to check to ensure nothing else caused the belt to break. Here is a good compiled list to consider checking over. http://www.thehulltruth.com/boating-forum/57357-optimax-belt-breaking.html.............

Did you mean G series serial number? Looking around and guessing your engine model, it looks like your Merc OEM part number should be 57-828507Q4 and if so, the aftermarket sierra number should be 18-18100. Which according to iboats the belt is 29/64" Wide x 55" Long. Replaces OEM part # MERCURY 57-828507Q4 For: Mercury 135DFI (1998-UP), 150DFI (1998-Up), 175DFI (2001-Up) .... http://www.iboats.com/Boat-Parts-Ac...1--keywords.57-828507Q4--session_id.765971008. Hope this helps, good luck.:)
