hey folks, i have a 1984 erude 150 that is used on a 1894 welcraft step-v..a pretty heavy boat. i have always turned 4800 rpm's at wot and run about 36 mph. all the sudden i am turning 4000 rpm's and running 28-30 mph. i know the rpm's were low anyway but thats the way its been since i bought it. i have 95 on all cylinders on compression test, i have replaced the coils, plugs, plug wires, fuel lines and filter and cleaned the carbs. this is a pre-mix engine. i can't find the problem and was hoping you folks may have an idea. THANK YOU all for reading and helping!

Just for kicks look at the tach to make sure its set on position 6.

The good news is that the compression is even. It may just be losing fire to one cylinder at wot.

If you lost the rpm after the carb rebuild it could just be a linkage problem. Make sure the carbs are opening all the way and the timer base is moving all the way to the stop.

Check the timing. Make sure its correct.

Once you get her running right again, work on the set up to get the 1000 rpms you need. It'll live much longer.

Let me know your final solution ... You just described my problem exactly . Slight difference is that mine is an 82 and I have lost 1000 r.p.m. and 10 miles an hour . Even did the decarb procedure .
