I have a 1998 Force made by Mercury outboard. It is only staying running when you press the primer bulb, eventually stalle out. So I figured it was the gas. i have anew gas tank, gas and hose. Changed the fuel pump. It follows out gas from after the fuel filter and then goes into carb. So i figured the 90 degree elbow the goes into the carb was clogged. Well it broke as soon as i tried to take it out. It broke off inside the carb mounting. I tryed using as easy out and it didn't work. I am considering drilling and tapping it. But it still doesn't solve the reason the engine wouldn't stay running. There was nothing clogged inthe elbow going into the carb. Anyone have any sugestions.

Assuming you've pulled the carbs to fix that busted elbow. You're going to want to clean them thotoughly at that point anyways. You may have a plugged jet, or a float sticking shut.

Ya.. fix what you broke, clean the carbs.. and put a fuel pump kit in it.

The fuel pump was a likely suspect from the start. Also look vor vacuum leaks in the fuel system - remember it SUCKS fuel.
