Hey guys, just building a boat windshield out of Optix Clear Acrylic Sheet - 080 Inch x 18Inch x 24 Inch. I need to form 2 small windshields out of this stuff. I am wondering about brackets and supports.... I was thinking of just putting like 5 "L" brackets on each one to secure it to my dash. Is there a better way? or easier way to support it or better ideas for brackets? I'll be at Home depot so I am sure I can find whatever I need there. Thanks

Well.... I would not drill holes for the brackets. I would buy aluminum screen channel frame and seat the plastic in that. Drilling holes could develop stress points that could crack.

Look at any boat windshield and you will see it is in a frame. The frame is them secured to the boat.

If you haven't bought the plex yet then stop right there. Go buy some Lexan. Its close to the same thing but a little more expensive. The difference is lexan will NEVER break, chip, or crack. You can even bend it. You can get it in most thicknesses and colors (tints).;)
