HELP!! can't get lower unit off

Hello, I have a 1976 4.5 and I can't get the lower unit off, the driveshaft seems to be stuck as I can only get the thing seperated about 1/8". I read the forums and tried to fill it with oil and stand it on it's head but no luck, I have put some serious pressure on it with some wedges, any other suggestions?<br /><br />Dan

Check for a bolt under the trim tab. Also on some models the driveshaft runs directly (in one piece) from the L/U to the powerhead. For those there is a bolt under the bottom carb that needs to be removed to lower the lower unit.

No trim tab on this one, only found the 2 nuts. I will look under the carb.<br /><br />Dan
