help clams

87 115 merc I6 awesome for 2 years... this last winter i asked about no fuel gauge no tilt no crank...all said check ground at fuel tank...done now i blow fuses on starboard side...same result as above...what now???kev

No tilt and no crank could mean that the fuse to the engine harness is bad.. Disconnect the boat harness from the engine harness, replace the fuse and see if it blows. If yes, search the motor side for a short. If no, reconnect the boat harness and check the fuse again. If the fuse has blown, disconnect the boat harness again and to be safe, disconnect the battery and check the boat side harness with an ohm meter. With the key off, the kill switch in the run position and the remote in neutral and the guage pigtails disconnected, no two pins should have continuity. <br /><br />I found a boat harness that had a cooked ground and got both trim wires at the same time, blew two fuses before I spotted it.. Wicked smaaat of me....<br /><br />Don't get lit!! :) !

If you google " mercury boat wire harness" you should get a bunch of hits, one of them should show you what pins are what, sorry I don't have enough time to look it up, got to put the kids to bed.

i forgot i posted this...but i did figure it out...get this....i was low on power trim fluid...every time i went all the way down...i blew a fuse..made not much sense to me ...but since it's full..no more fuses blown
